Thanks for that detailed answer about the electronic brake motor failure. Dealing with almost the exact situation on my 2015 Ram right now. My brake control module seems shot and the parking brake is stuck disengaged. Planning to take it in next week. Did you remember roughly what the total repair cost ended up being for your brake fault? And has the new electronic brake assembly held up well since the fix? Just trying to get an idea of what to expect cost-wise and if I should plan for any follow-up issues.

Since having the electronic parking brake fixed at the shop, the system has worked flawlessly. The repair took about 4 hours and cost 505€ to replace the faulty brake motor in the caliper assembly. The mechanic confirmed the brake control module was operational, the main issue was the worn electronic motor. The brake sensor system now functions perfectly with no warning lights or error codes. Looking back, getting it fixed quickly was the right call to prevent additional brake system damage. These electronic parking brake setups are complex, but once properly repaired they tend to remain reliable. For peace of mind, have them test the complete brake control system during repair to rule out any other potential issues. The investment in fixing the primary fault was worth it to restore the critical parking brake safety function.

Just got back from the mechanic after fixing my electronic brake issue. The total repair came to 680€ which included replacing both the brake motor and control module. More than I hoped but at least the parking brake works perfectly now. The shop found the brake sensor wiring was also slightly corroded, which they cleaned up during the repair. The whole job took about 6 hours since they had to run full system diagnostics to clear all brake fault codes. Good call on getting it fixed quickly, the mechanic mentioned that continued use with a failing electronic brake could have caused more extensive damage. Much better experience this time with a shop that actually specializes in electronic brake systems. Quick update on a test drive, no more warning lights, brake engages smoothly, and zero system glitches. Definitely feeling more confident about the repair this time around compared to my previous shop experiences.

Had the same electronic brake failure on my 2016 Dodge Ram 2500 diesel. The parking brake warning stayed illuminated and the system was completely unresponsive. The brake diagnostics revealed a failed electronic brake motor in the rear caliper. This is a fairly serious issue since the parking brake cannot be engaged or released. The repair required replacing the complete brake caliper assembly with the integrated electronic motor. The brake switch and wiring harness were tested but showed no faults. The issue lies specifically with the electronic brake actuator motor wearing out, a known weak point in these systems. When the motor fails, the parking brake gets stuck either engaged or released. This is not a simple system glitch that can be fixed with module reprogramming. The electronic brake components need physical replacement to restore function. The repair should be done promptly since you lose the parking brake safety feature. Important to note, if the parking brake warning appears, avoid engaging/disengaging it repeatedly as this can cause additional damage to the brake mechanism. Get it diagnosed quickly by a shop familiar with electronic brake systems on Ram trucks.
