Thanks for sharing your experience! Similar situation with my 2012 Range Rover (198358 KM). Actually, now that you mention it, I've noticed the alarm usually acts up more during damp weather. The key fob works perfectly fine, but I've spotted some slight flickering in the dashboard lights occasionally. I'll definitely have the mechanic check those cable connections, sounds like it could be the same issue. My last service was just two months ago but they didn't check the alarm system specifically. Really appreciate the detailed repair info and cost breakdown, gives me a good idea of what to expect. Hopefully it's just those corroded connections like in your case!

Yeah that flickering dashboard is definitely a red flag, had the exact same thing with my Range! The damp weather connection makes perfect sense too. My 2014 Sport showed similar symptoms before I got it fixed, and I remember the dashboard would occasionally flicker, especially during morning starts when there was more condensation. Looking at your mileage (198K), it's about the same range where I started having these issues. These Range Rovers are known for their electrical quirks at this age, especially around the alarm system wiring. Since your last service didn't specifically check the alarm system, that's probably why they missed it. Quick tip from my experience, when my mechanic opened it up, they also found some moisture had gotten into the connection housing. They ended up applying some dielectric grease after replacing the cables, which has helped prevent any moisture-related issues since then. Might be worth mentioning this to your mechanic when you take it in. It's probably the same issue I had, given all these matching symptoms. Just make sure they do a thorough check of all the alarm system wiring, not just the obvious connections. Mine needed a bit of extra work around the main harness too, but it was worth getting it all sorted properly.

Thanks so much for all this detailed info! Really helpful to hear about the dielectric grease solution, I'll definitely mention that to my mechanic. The matching symptoms, especially the dashboard flickering and the connection to damp weather, make me feel much more confident about what's probably wrong with my Range. I was worried it might be something more serious, but this sounds totally fixable. Will book it in with my mechanic this week and ask them to do a complete check of the alarm system wiring, including the main harness. Good to know about these typical electrical issues at this mileage too, helps me understand what to expect. Really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience and those specific repair tips. I'll update once it's fixed!

Hey there! I've got some experience with car electronics (some experience). Actually, I had a similar issue with my 2014 Range Rover Sport, and I also own a Range Rover Evoque. The symptoms were exactly like yours, unusual alarm triggers. Turned out it was a faulty cable connection between the alarm module and siren. Took it to my trusted mechanic who diagnosed it pretty quickly. They had to remove some panels to access the wiring, found corroded connections, and replaced the damaged cables. Cost me around 155 Euro for the whole fix, including labor. Haven't had any issues since then! Could be the same problem as yours, but it'd help if you could share: Does it happen more often in wet weather? Have you noticed any other electrical quirks? Is your key fob working normally? Let me know these details and I might be able to give you more specific advice!
