Hi again! Thanks for sharing your experience. That's pretty much identical to what happened to my Range Rover. Mine also had corroded wiring causing the cruise control problems, seems like it might be a common issue with these models. Would you mind sharing how much you ended up paying for the repair? Also curious if you've had any other electrical gremlins pop up since getting it fixed? Cheers!

Hey again! Just wanted to update you on the repair costs since you asked. I paid 95.00 € to get the cruise control fixed, the mechanic found and repaired that faulty cable connection we discussed. Pretty reasonable price considering the work involved, if you ask me! The best part? Everything's working perfectly now! The cruise control has been functioning flawlessly since the repair. And to answer your other question, nope, haven't had any other electrical issues pop up since then. It really was just that corroded wire causing all the trouble. I'm actually pretty relieved it wasn't anything more serious. These Range Rovers can be tricky with electrical stuff sometimes, but this turned out to be a straightforward fix. The mechanic did a great job sorting it out. Sounds like you're dealing with exactly the same issue I had. Hope you get yours sorted soon too! Let us know how it goes. Cheers!

Thanks so much for the detailed info! I actually just got back from the mechanic today. You were spot on about the corrosion issue, turns out it was exactly the same problem. My repair came in slightly higher at 120 € because they found a few more worn wires while they were in there. But honestly, I'm just relieved it's fixed now. The cruise control is working perfectly again, and the mechanic even cleared all the fault codes. Really glad I asked here before going in, helped me know what to expect and not get overcharged. The whole thing took about 4 hours, and the mechanic walked me through everything they did. Much better experience than my last repair shop! Thanks again for all your help. It's great when these things turn out to be simpler than you fear. Time to enjoy some stress-free driving! Cheers!

Hey there! I actually had a similar issue with my 2006 Range Rover Sport TDV8. The cruise control symptoms you're describing sound exactly like what I experienced last month. In my case, it turned out to be a faulty cable connection between the steering wheel controls and the main control module. The mechanic found corroded wiring in the steering column that was interrupting the signals. It wasn't a major repair, but it did require some careful work to access and replace the damaged cables. They also had to reprogram the control module after fixing the connection. For reference, my car had around 85k km when this happened. The repair took about half a day to complete. While it wasn't a serious mechanical issue affecting the engine or safety systems, it's still something you want to get sorted by someone who knows Range Rovers well. Hope this helps with your decision. Let us know how it works out.
