Range Rover Electric Gremlins: Parking Sensors Gone Dark

Thanks for jumping in! My Rover just hit 127323 KM and had its last service 3 months ago. The warnings pop up out of nowhere, usually after I've been driving for about 15-20 minutes. I'm seeing a "Park Aid System Fault" message, and occasionally the dashboard lights flicker. No recent work done except for routine oil change. The weird thing is, sometimes it works fine for a few days, then acts up again. I'll definitely look into the sensor replacement you mentioned. Did you notice if your issues got worse in certain conditions, like rain or cold weather? Just trying to spot any patterns before I take it to the shop.

Hey again! Thanks for the extra details about your Range Rover. those symptoms are bringing back memories, my old Rover used to do the EXACT same thing! The unusual warnings and flickering after driving for a while were spot on with what I experienced. Mine actually did get worse in wet weather, which was a big clue. Water was getting into one of the rear sensors and causing it to short out intermittently. That's why it would work fine some days and act up on others. The flickering dashboard was basically the car throwing a fit because it was getting confused signals. One thing I learned from my experience, don't wait too long to get it fixed. I tried to ignore it at first, but the problem just got worse. When I finally took it in, my mechanic found that moisture had started corroding the sensor's connections, which could've led to bigger electrical issues. Since you mentioned the 3-month-old service, maybe double-check if they accidentally damaged any wiring during the oil change? Sometimes these things can get knocked loose. Though honestly, given the age of our Rovers, it's probably just a tired sensor giving up. Quick tip: if you're heading to the shop, ask them to check all the sensors, not just replace one. Sometimes when one goes, the others aren't far behind. Saved me from having to go back a month later! Let me know what you find out, I'm curious if it's the same issue I had!

Thanks so much for all this detailed info! You've been super helpful. What you're describing about the water sensitivity makes total sense, now that I think about it, my issues did start around the rainy season. I definitely won't put off getting it checked anymore. I just called my mechanic and booked it in for next week. I'll make sure to mention about checking all the sensors like you suggested, that's really smart thinking. The last thing I want is to fix one just to have another fail right after. I'll also have them look at any possible loose connections from the recent service, though like you said, it's probably just age-related. I really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience. It's helped me understand what I'm dealing with, and honestly, it's a relief to know it's likely just a sensor issue rather than something more serious. I'll update you once I get it sorted! Thanks again for all your help!

Hey there! I had some experience with a similar issue on my 2006 Range Rover Sport (I'd say I have some experience with these cars, as I've owned a couple of Land Rovers before). The symptoms you're describing sound exactly like what I dealt with. My parking sensors went dead, and I was getting weird electrical warnings too. Turned out one of the parking aid sensors was faulty and messing with the whole system. Had my trusted mechanic replace the defective sensor, which cost me around 265 Euro including labor. Since then, everything's been working perfectly. Before you head to a workshop though, could you share: Which specific warning messages you're seeing? Are you getting these issues constantly or intermittently? Have you recently had any work done on the car? This info would help determine if you're facing the same problem I had with my Range Rover.
