Ranger brake lights not working

Hi, I have a 2006 Ford Ranger with a gasoline engine and I'm experiencing a strange issue. The brake lights are not working. I'm also getting an error stored in the error memory and an error message in the infotainment system related to it. Has anyone encountered something similar?

I had a similar issue with my Ranger, although I don't remember the exact year. It turned out to be a faulty brake light switch. Check that first. Where did you get the error codes read?

Thanks for the quick response. I had the error codes read at a local garage. You mentioned brake light switch. Is it easy to check/replace? Any idea where it's located?

Yeah, sounds like the same problem. Replacing it yourself is possible, but it can be a bit fiddly. It's located near the brake pedal assembly. If you're not comfortable doing it yourself, I'd recommend taking it to a workshop. They'll diagnose it properly and replace the switch if needed. Could be user error, but those switches do fail.

Thanks a lot for the advice! Turns out it was indeed the brake light switch. It was a quick fix, and I managed to replace it myself. No cost involved. Appreciate your help!
