Indeed, the symptoms you describe match my experience precisely. Did you manage to resolve the problem yourself, or was a visit to a workshop necessary?

While you could theoretically clean the MAF sensor, in my case, cleaning provided only a temporary fix. The problem resurfaced quickly. The best solution is to replace the sensor, but it might be best to let a workshop do it. That will give you certainty about the sensor's replacement

Thank you for the information. I visited a local workshop today, and the MAF sensor was indeed defective. The replacement cost 365€ and seems to have resolved the issue.

I had similar issues with my Ranger. The MAF sensor can cause all sorts of problems because it measures the amount of air entering the engine. The computer uses this information to calculate the correct air-fuel ratio. When the sensor fails, the air-fuel mixture becomes imbalanced, leading to poor engine performance, stalling, and increased fuel consumption. Was this similar to your experience?
