Ranger power window reset

I've got a 2021 Ford Ranger with a diesel engine and 121043 km on the clock. I recently replaced the battery, and now the power windows won't work. None of the window switches respond. I scanned for errors, and there's a 'window regulator initialization unsuccessful' error stored. Is this something common after a battery change? I've checked the fuses, and they seem fine. What else could it be?

Sounds like the window regulator lost its settings. Did you try resetting it? Some cars need a specific procedure after a battery disconnect. Maybe try holding the window switch up for a few seconds after the window is fully closed.

Thanks for the suggestion! How exactly do I reset the window regulator? Is there a specific sequence or something? I tried holding the switch as you suggested, but no luck. Do I need to disconnect the battery again, or is there another trick?

Yeah, it definitely sounds like the regulator. If the switch trick didn't work, it might need a proper reset with diagnostic tools. That usually means a trip to the workshop, unfortunately.

Okay, thanks for the help! I took it to the shop, and they confirmed it needed a reset after the battery change. Cost me 290€ to get it sorted. Annoying, but at least it's fixed now.
