RAV4 Clutch Pedal Switch Problems
Summary of the thread
A 2012 Toyota RAV4 is experiencing issues potentially linked to a faulty clutch pedal switch, causing errors in the memory, a non-functional gear selection display, inoperative cruise control, and occasional starting problems. The problem may stem from a defective cable or plug connection. A similar issue was resolved by replacing the clutch pedal switch and repairing the wiring, which restored the vehicle's functionality.

Indeed, quite perplexing! When you had those symptoms, did the error memory also point to the clutch pedal switch? And did you also find any obvious defects with the cable or plug connection? I'm trying to avoid unnecessary replacements if possible.

Honestly, I didn't dive too deep into the error codes myself. I just took it to a workshop, and they mentioned something about a safety switch being faulty. I think it was related to the clutch. It fixed the problem right away. I would advise you to do the same.

Understood. It seems a trip to the workshop is inevitable. I appreciate you sharing your experience! Turns out, a new clutch pedal switch and some wiring repair did the trick, just as suspected. Cost me 95€, but at least the RAV4 is back on the road.

Wow, that sounds familiar! I have a RAV4 too, and I had a similar problem with the cruise control and starting issues a while back. Though, I didn't notice anything with the gear selection display. Could it really be just a faulty switch?
