RAV4 cruise control malfunction

My 2019 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid's cruise control just died at 76310 km. The cruise control light is on, but it won't engage. There's an error code stored, and the cruise control fuses are fine. Any ideas where to look before a mechanic? Maybe a speed sensor or steering wheel controls?

Dude, I had almost the exact same thing happen on my RAV4! Cruise control quit, and yeah, an error code was stored. Did you check the clock spring? That thing can cause all sorts of electrical gremlins. Otherwise, could be a dodgy connection somewhere.

Clock spring, huh? Where's that located, and is the connection easy to check? Inside the steering wheel? What fixed your RAV4?

Yeah, the clock spring is inside the steering wheel. I didn't mess with it myself, honestly. Knowing my luck, I'd set off the airbag. I took it straight to the shop. They found a defective plug connection. Cost me like 95€ to fix.

Okay, good to know! I was hoping it wouldn't be too expensive. I'll check the connections first, but I'll probably take it to a workshop. Thanks!
