RAV4 Sporadic Errors

I have a 2003 Toyota RAV4, electric engine, with about 61,807 km. Recently, I've been getting sporadic errors in driving mode, and sometimes the error lamps light up. It also seems to be causing failures in other systems, mostly with the audio/navigation. Occasionally the control units temporarily shut down, or become unresponsive. I scanned it with an OBD-II scan tool and it has an error stored in the memory. Any ideas?

That sounds familiar. I have a RAV4 as well. I had a similar issue with mine a while back. Were you able to retrieve any specific codes when you scanned it? Did it point to a specific module or is it more of a general malfunction indicator?

The scan tool pointed to a defective cable connection of the control unit, specifically mentioning the connection to the BUS system. Does that match what you experienced?

Yes, that sounds about right. In my case, the error memory also indicated a problem with the BUS system connection. Based on my experience, and since you've already scanned it and have an error code, I'd suggest taking it to a workshop to have the cable connection checked and potentially repaired.

Thank you for the insight. I had the cable connection repaired as suggested; the invoice quotes 155€. Hopefully, that resolves the issue.
