RCZ Battery Draining Error Codes

My 2011 Peugeot RCZ with a gasoline engine is giving me fits. It's got 235605 km on the clock. The battery keeps draining like crazy! I get an error message flashing up, the lights are flickering, and the error memory is chock-full of codes. Starting the engine feels like it's barely got enough juice. I'm thinking it might be the battery sensor playing up. Anyone else had this issue? It's driving me nuts!

Sounds like a classic case of parasitic draw, though a bad sensor is plausible. Have you checked the battery terminals for corrosion or loose connections? Even a small amount of resistance there can cause significant voltage drop and phantom drain. Think of it like a kink in a hose – restricts the flow even if the tap is fully open.

Yeah, I checked the terminals – they look clean and are tight. So, if it's not the terminals, and you reckon the sensor is a possibility, is there any way to be absolutely sure before I start throwing parts at it? Or is it workshop time?

Given the symptoms and your troubleshooting, a defective battery sensor is highly probable. It's responsible for monitoring the battery's health and regulating the charging process. If it's sending incorrect data, it could lead to over-discharge. At this point, a diagnostic scan at a workshop is your best bet to confirm. It'll save you guesswork and potential further damage. Expect around 315€ for the sensor and labor.

Thanks a bunch for the advice! Took it to the shop, and you nailed it – faulty battery sensor. 315€ later, and she's purring like a kitten again. Appreciate the help!
