RCZ Lighting System Fault

I'm experiencing an electrical issue with my 2010 Peugeot RCZ, gasoline engine. The lights switch on randomly. The car was scanned, and an error is stored related to the headlight switch. Has anyone else experienced similar issues? Could this be a simple fuse issue, or something more sinister, like a defective headlight switch or a problem within the fuse box?

Sounds frustrating! I had a similar problem with my old Audi A4. Random electrical gremlins are the worst. My dashboard lights were going crazy, and it turned out to be a faulty connection in the headlight switch wiring harness. Did you check the cable and plug connections of the component? If there is a bad connection, you will have issues with the lights. Have you inspected the wiring for any signs of damage or corrosion?

I have visually inspected the wiring harness and connections to the headlight switch, and I did not observe any obvious signs of damage or corrosion. Was the issue immediately apparent upon inspection, or was it more subtle? Perhaps requiring a more thorough examination with a multimeter?

In my case, it wasn't immediately obvious. I only found it after wiggling the wires while the car was running and seeing the lights flicker. It was a very subtle break in one of the wires within the connector itself. At that point, I tried to fix it myself, but it did not work for long. If you are unsure and don't want to spend a lot of time troubleshooting, it might be worth taking it to a workshop to have them diagnose it properly.

Based on your advice, and the fact that the error code specifically points to the headlight switch, I will take it to a trusted workshop for a proper diagnosis and repair. The estimated repair cost of 95€, considering the potential for defective cable or plug connection, seems reasonable. Your insights were invaluable in helping me make this decision.
