Thanks. Regarding the gas cap and pressure sensor, are there specific tests to confirm they work, or is a visual inspection enough? Also, could a faulty EVAP system impact fuel efficiency beyond causing idle issues?

A visual inspection can reveal obvious damage, but testing the gas cap requires a pressure test, ideally with a specialized tool. For the pressure sensor, diagnostic equipment is needed to monitor its readings. A faulty EVAP system can certainly affect fuel efficiency, alongside issues with idling and emissions. Considering the age and the potential complexities, a workshop visit may be prudent, unless you have advanced diagnostic capabilities.

I appreciate the advice. Based on your recommendation, I brought the Avantime to a workshop. It was indeed the tank ventilation valve and some clogged hoses within the EVAP system. The repair cost 175€.

I recall a similar issue with an older Renault Megane. The symptoms were comparable. Before replacing the purge valve, have you checked the gas cap and the pressure sensor? A faulty gas cap can sometimes trigger EVAP system errors. Also, inspect all vacuum lines connected to the valve; cracks can cause issues, as I found out.
