Renault Master diesel engine issue

I haven't checked for leaks yet, but I will take a look. The smoke smells like diesel, definitely not oil. What was the issue with your Peugeot in the end?

Ah, diesel smell points even more strongly towards the injection system. With the Peugeot, it turned out to be a defective cable or plug connection to one of the injectors. This caused all sorts of mayhem with the fuel delivery. I'd recommend getting it checked out by a workshop, they'll be able to diagnose it properly. Could save you a lot of headaches.

Thanks for the advice! I took it to the workshop, and you were spot on. It was a defective plug connection to an injector. They replaced it and now it runs like new. Cost me 95€, not too bad all things considered.

That sounds suspiciously like a fuel injection problem. I had something similar happen with my old Peugeot 308 a few years back. Have you checked for any obvious leaks around the injectors or fuel lines? Also, does the smoke smell particularly diesel-y or more like burning oil?
