Renault Master Poor Starting Fuel Consumption
Summary of the thread
A 2007 Renault Master diesel is experiencing poor starting, increased fuel consumption, reduced engine power, erratic idling, and occasional stalling. These issues may be caused by a defective injection nozzle or dirty injection valve. A similar case required replacing the injectors, as cleaning was insufficient for a long-term fix. Professional diagnosis and repair are recommended to avoid further engine damage.

Interesting! So, you think it's highly likely the injection nozzle? Did you end up replacing it or just cleaning it? And did it solve all the problems, like the high fuel consumption and reduced engine performance? I'm trying to avoid going to a mechanic if I can fix it myself, but I also don't want to mess things up even more.

In my case, replacement was necessary. Cleaning didn't solve the issue long-term. Given the symptoms you described, especially the stalling, a defective injector is probable. While DIY is admirable, fuel injection systems are complex. I would advise seeking professional diagnosis and repair to avoid potential engine damage.

Thanks a lot for the advice! I suspected it might be more than just a cleaning job. I think I will take it to a workshop to get it checked. Apparently, the repair set me back 515€. I'll get the injection nozzles replaced. Hopefully, that will solve all the problems. Thanks again for your help!

I had similar symptoms with my Master. Hard starts, poor idling... Does it almost sound like a misfire? Have you checked the injectors? That was the culprit for me.
