Renault Master power loss whistling noise
Summary of the thread
A 2008 Renault Master diesel is experiencing power loss, poor engine response, increased fuel consumption, and occasional stalling, accompanied by a whistling noise and loud hissing during acceleration. These symptoms suggest a potential issue with the wastegate valve, though a faulty MAP sensor or intercooler hose leaks could also be contributing factors. It is recommended to have the vehicle inspected by a professional workshop to accurately diagnose and address the problem.

The mileage is 181633 km. I haven't checked the MAP sensor or intercooler hoses yet. Where are they located, and can I easily inspect them myself?

Given the mileage and symptoms, and that you've not checked those components, it might be best to take it to a workshop. While it could be the MAP sensor or hoses, the hissing sound strongly suggests a wastegate issue, which can be difficult to diagnose without proper tools. I ended up needing a new turbocharger. I hope you get this sorted.

I appreciate your insight! I'll take it to a reputable workshop for inspection. Based on your experience, it seems the wastegate is likely the issue. Thanks for the advice. The total repair cost was 860€.

I had similar symptoms with my Renault Master. Have you checked the MAP sensor and intercooler hoses for leaks? A faulty wastegate or a boost leak could certainly cause those issues. What's the mileage?
