Thanks. No burning smells. Could the alternator be the problem even with a weak battery?

In my case, the weak battery was because of the overcharging that damaged it. Get it to a workshop for a proper diagnosis. They can check the alternator and battery. Don't risk damaging more electronics.

Thanks for the advice. The workshop confirmed it: defective battery led to overvoltage and electrical issues. Replacing the battery and a system reset cost 290€. Sorted!

Sounds like what happened with my old Opel Astra. It was a faulty voltage regulator in the alternator causing power surges and frying the ECU. Did you notice any burning smell at first?
