Renault Movano MAF Sensor Issue

I'm fuming! My 2016 Renault Movano diesel is giving me grief. Seems like the mass air flow meter (LMM) is shot. I'm getting higher fuel consumption, the engine stalls at idle sometimes, the check engine light is on, and it's smoking like crazy when I accelerate. Mileage is at 178051 km. Anyone else had this fun?

Sounds familiar! I had similar symptoms on my old Peugeot 308. Check engine light, rough idling, and what looked like a steam train following me! Have you tried cleaning the MAF sensor first? Might be worth a shot before replacing it.

Cleaning, huh? I've heard mixed opinions. What did you use to clean it, and did it actually make a difference on your 308?

I used a proper MAF sensor cleaner spray – don't use anything else, apparently. It helped a little, but honestly, it was a temporary fix. Eventually, I bit the bullet and replaced the sensor. Honestly, after all of this pain, I would recommend you go straight to the workshop.

Okay, appreciate the advice! No point messing about too much, I guess. Ended up taking it to the workshop. Turns out the MAF sensor was definitely knackered. Total cost was 365€, but at least it's running smoothly now. Cheers!
