Renault Scenic Engine Power Loss

I'm experiencing a concerning issue with my 2004 Renault Scenic, gasoline engine, 65418 km on the clock. The engine feels like it's lost a significant amount of power, and the check engine light is on. It runs quite rough, jerks when I try to accelerate, and even stalls sometimes when idling. Could this be a mixture preparation error?

Your symptoms do sound familiar. I had a similar issue with my old Opel Astra, though it was a diesel. Reduced power, engine light, rough running... turned out to be a faulty injector. Have you checked your spark plugs, air-fuel ratio, mass airflow sensor, throttle body or oxygen sensor?

Thanks for the quick reply! Regarding the injectors, how did you determine that was the problem? Did you notice any specific indicators besides what I mentioned?

Well, it was a process of elimination, to be honest. We checked all the usual suspects first – spark plugs, air filter, etc. Eventually, a diagnostic test pointed towards the injectors. It's worth getting it properly diagnosed at a workshop. In the end it's safer.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience! I took your advice and brought it to a workshop. Indeed, it was a defective injector, as you suspected. Repair cost me 515€. Again, I appreciate the help!
