Renault Spider incorrect vehicle coding error
Summary of the thread
A 1998 Renault Spider is displaying a fault code for 'incorrect vehicle coding' in both the infotainment system and the speedometer. This issue does not affect the car's performance but causes persistent error messages. A similar problem was resolved by having the car's computer recoded at a workshop, which is suggested as the best solution.
Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Thanks! It doesn't seem to be affecting performance, just the annoying errors. It started happening randomly. I haven't done any work on it recently, just regular maintenance. What was the solution when you had that issue? Did you have to reprogram anything?

Okay, I remember now. It was a while back. The errors popped up constantly! It drove me nuts. I wasn't able to solve it myself. I took it to a workshop. They told me the same thing, incorrect vehicle coding. They recoded the car's computer and that fixed it. Cost me about 360€. So, a visit to the workshop might be your best bet.

Thanks so much! That's exactly the info I needed. I'll take it to a shop and mention the recoding. Hopefully, that will sort it out. Appreciate the help!

Hey! I've got a Spider too, and that sounds familiar. Incorrect coding... Is it affecting the car's performance, or is it just the error messages bugging you? Did this start happening suddenly, or after you did some work on the car?
