Renault Spider rough running stalling

Alright Renault Spider gurus, I'm pulling my hair out! My '98 Spider with a gasoline engine is throwing a check engine light. It's got 247135 km on the clock. The engine runs super rough, stalls at idle, and jerks like crazy when I try to accelerate. My gut says it's the fuel pressure sensor. I checked the wiring and plug, and the plug looks a bit crusty, like it came out of titanic. Anyone else seen this?

Sounds familiar! I had similar issues with my Spider, also a gasoline engine. Rough running and stalling like you describe... Was a nightmare, especially at stoplights. Have you checked the fuel injector connections as well? If your plug is crusty, it could be affecting the signal.

Fuel injector connections are my next check. But if it was the injectors wouldn't the car be running lean? I am wondering if you had the same error code. Was it definitely the fuel pressure sensor in your case?

Well, the error code I got was pointing towards the fuel system, but I didn't want to mess with it. Since you can check the plug you're already deeper than I ever was! I brought it to a workshop and they fixed it. I suggest you to do the same before breaking even more.

You nailed it! It WAS the fuel pressure sensor connection, just like you suspected. I cleaned up the contacts, but the problem persisted, so I replaced the sensor. 95€ later, and she's running smooth as silk again. Huge thanks for the help!
