Ridgeline check engine light VANOS issue
Summary of the thread
A 2012 Honda Ridgeline owner reported a check engine light and increased fuel consumption, suspecting a fault in the inlet VANOS mechanics, possibly due to a camshaft solenoid valve defect or power supply issue. Another individual with similar symptoms suggested checking the VANOS solenoid. After consulting a mechanic, the owner confirmed a faulty VANOS solenoid, which was replaced, resolving the issue.

Thanks for the quick reply. Could you give me more specifics about your issue? Did you run tests to find the faulty part, or did you just replace the VANOS solenoid based on the symptoms? Was it difficult to access or replace the solenoid?

I didn't do the replacement myself. I took it to a trusted workshop. They confirmed it was the VANOS solenoid, possibly due to some internal defect. Based on your description, it would be good to have it checked professionally.

I appreciate you sharing your experience. I consulted a mechanic who found a faulty VANOS solenoid and replaced it. The total repair cost was about 250€. Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction.

I had very similar symptoms with my Ridgeline, check engine light and all. It turned out to be related to the variable timing system. Have you checked the VANOS solenoid itself?
