Ridgeline exhaust flap issue
Summary of the thread
A 2016 Honda Ridgeline owner is experiencing increased exhaust noise and engine noise on cold starts, with an error related to the exhaust system stored in the vehicle's memory. The suspected cause is defective exhaust flaps. A similar issue in another vehicle was resolved by replacing the exhaust flaps, which is suggested as a solution. The owner confirms the issue was indeed the exhaust flaps and resolves it by replacing them.

Interesting. When your BMW was doing that, did you also experience performance issues or was it mostly just the noise? Any specific components that gave you trouble?

Mostly the noise, to be honest. Performance was slightly affected, but barely noticeable. I'd suggest getting it checked out by a professional, could save you a lot of headaches. In my case, the exhaust flaps were defective and had to be replaced. Cost me around 200€.

Appreciate the insight. I'll get it looked at. It was indeed the exhaust flaps, cost me 190€ to get sorted. Thanks!

Sounds familiar. Had a similar issue with my old BMW 3 series. Different car, I know, but the symptoms sound almost identical – exhaust noise, error codes... Could be exhaust valves or other exhaust components acting up. Was it like that for you too?
