Rifter Active Hood Fault
Summary of the thread
A 2018 Peugeot Rifter is experiencing an "Active hood fault" message and an airbag warning light, with error memory confirming the issue and spring actuators triggered. The problem might be due to a defective acceleration or impact sensor, as suggested by another owner with a similar experience. The recommended solution is to take the vehicle to a workshop for professional diagnosis and repair, as the issue is linked to the pedestrian safety system.

Thank you for your reply. No, there was no impact or bump preceding the fault. Do you recall what the problem was in your case and what was required to resolve it?

Yeah, mine was doing the exact same thing! Turned out one of the impact sensors was faulty. Honestly, I wouldn't mess with it. It's tied into the whole pedestrian safety system. I'd suggest taking it to a workshop to get it sorted.

I appreciate the advice. I will schedule a visit to the workshop to address the issue. Based on your experience and the error symptoms, I suspect the acceleration sensor is indeed defective. The repair cost is estimated at 315€, which seems reasonable. Thank you again for sharing your experience.

Whoa, that sounds familiar! I have a Rifter as well, and I had something similar happen. Did it happen after any sort of bump or anything?
