Rifter oil pressure warning
Summary of the thread
A 2022 Peugeot Rifter diesel exhibited an oil pressure warning light and loud mechanical noises, despite the oil level appearing normal. Possible causes discussed included oil viscosity issues, leakage, a clogged oil filter, or oil pump failure. After further investigation, it was confirmed that the problem was due to a defective oil pump, which was subsequently repaired.

Thank you for your reply. I haven't checked the oil viscosity. I will look into oil leakage. The oil filter was replaced about 8000 km ago. Could it really be clogged so quickly? Could it be oil pump failure?

8000 km should be fine for the oil filter. However, oil pump failure does sound like a plausible reason considering the symptoms. It could also be a faulty oil pressure gauge. Considering the noises, I'd suggest having it checked at a workshop to confirm.

I appreciate the advice. I took it to the workshop, and you were right. It was indeed a defect in the oil pump. The repair cost came to 755€ Thank you!

I also own a Rifter, though I don't recall the exact year. I once faced something similar. Have you checked the oil viscosity or if there's any oil leakage? Also, when was the last time you replaced the oil filter? A clogged filter can sometimes cause low oil pressure.
