Thanks for sharing that experience. The door handle electronics issue on my RS5 sounds nearly identical. Its really frustrating when the keyless system fails, especially since the locking system worked flawlessly before. Did you remember roughly what the total repair cost was? Also curious if you have had any recurring issues with the door electronics since getting it fixed? I want to make sure this is a one-time repair rather than a band-aid solution that will need revisiting. My local shop quoted me but I want to compare prices before committing to such a specialized electrical repair job.

Just took my S5 back to the shop for its annual service and can confirm the door handle electronics have worked perfectly since that repair. No recurring sensor issues or wiring faults at all. The fix was surprisingly straightforward, turned out to be a loose cable connection near the door actuator that was causing the intermittent failures. The total repair came to 95 Euro for fixing the faulty connection. Much less than I initially feared, since I thought the entire door electronics system would need replacement. The technician found the specific wiring fault quickly with their diagnostic tools. For your RS5, if the symptoms match, it could be a similar simple fix rather than a complete system replacement. Just make sure whoever works on it has experience with these door electronic systems, as proper diagnosis is key to avoiding unnecessary parts replacement. When working perfectly, these keyless systems are great, worth getting it sorted properly the first time.

The door handle saga on my RS5 is finally resolved. After getting multiple quotes, I went with a specialized shop that had good reviews for electrical work. They diagnosed the exact same wiring fault issue you mentioned. The repair took about 3 hours. The technician found a damaged wire bundle near the door switch that was causing the keyless entry problems. They replaced the worn section and added extra protection to prevent future chafing against the door frame. Total cost came to 120 Euro for parts and labor. While not cheap, it was worth it to have the door electronics working properly again. The keyless entry now responds instantly and all door handle functions are back to normal. The shop also cleared the stored error codes and tested everything thoroughly. Based on what they showed me about the wiring fault location, I can see why this is a common issue on these models. Good to know these door handle problems can usually be fixed without replacing the entire system. Thanks again for sharing your experience, it helped me understand what to expect during the repair process.

Had a similar issue on my 2011 S5 last season. The door handle electronics failed completely, no keyless response and the car would not recognize the handle pull action. The root cause was a damaged door actuator wiring harness that had worn through due to constant door movement. The wiring fault created communication issues between the door handle sensor and the main control unit. This is actually a common problem on these models. The repair involved replacing the complete door actuator assembly and rewiring the door electronics. While not a critical safety issue, it definitely needs proper attention since it affects security and convenience features. The dealer technician showed me where the original wiring had chafed against the door frame. They had to remove the door panel and replace several connector plugs that had corroded over time. The job took about 4 hours to complete. Would recommend having a certified shop handle this repair since it involves both mechanical and electrical components. They will need proper diagnostic tools to clear the stored error codes after the repair.
