RS7 Engine Stalling Due to Faulty Purge Valve System

Having some experience with automotive repair, I faced a similar issue on my 2014 RS6. The engine light was triggering and I had the same stalling problems, especially after filling up the fuel tank. After taking it to a workshop, they found the hoses connected to the purge valve were completely clogged. The emission system inspection revealed dirt buildup was preventing proper ventilation. The repair involved cleaning and replacing several components of the fuel tank ventilation assembly. Total cost was 175 Euro and the work took about 3 hours. The symptoms you describe match exactly what I experienced. However, to provide more specific guidance, could you share: Current mileage on your RS7, When was the last emission system service done, Any other warning lights showing up, Are you noticing any fuel smell Its worth checking these aspects before assuming its just the purge valve, as similar symptoms can stem from various parts of the fuel system. The fix completely resolved my issues and the engine light hasnt returned since. Regular maintenance of the emission system components can help prevent these problems from recurring.

Last service was at 62570 KM and they ran a pressure sensor test showing all systems normal. The engine light only started appearing a week after that service. Ill check for fuel smells, but haven't noticed any so far. No other warning lights showing up on the dash besides the engine light. Appreciate the detailed response, especially the cost estimate, since I want to compare shop quotes. Starting to think I might have the same clogged hose issue you mentioned.

Thanks for the follow-up details. Given that this started right after your service at 62570 KM, its a bit suspicious as my issue actually developed gradually. In my RS6 case, the pressure sensor readings initially showed normal too, but the tank ventilation system was still problematic. The lack of fuel smell is actually a good sign, when I had my clogged hoses, there was a faint fuel odor, especially after filling up. Since youre not experiencing this, it might point to a different component in the emission system. Have you noticed if the check engine light pattern is consistent? In my case, it would always come on after refueling and stay on until the next restart. If yours behaves differently, we might be looking at a different issue. Since the service just checked the system, consider having them specifically: Recheck the pressure sensor calibration, Inspect the purge valve electrical connections, Test the fuel tank pressure readings at different fuel levels My repair ended up being relatively straightforward once properly diagnosed, but these symptoms can sometimes be tricky to pin down. Keep us posted on what you find, it helps build our collective knowledge about these issues.

Thanks for checking those points. The engine light pattern is exactly as you described, it comes on after refueling and stays until the next restart. After reading about your experience with the EVAP system issues, I made an appointment with a shop that specializes in these problems. Already got a quote of 190 Euro for diagnostic tests including the pressure sensor calibration and purge valve inspection you mentioned. I did notice something new today, when filling the fuel tank completely, the pump keeps clicking off early. From what I understand, this could also indicate problems with the tank ventilation system. The more I research, the more convinced I am that its either clogged ventilation hoses or a faulty purge valve causing these issues. Will update the thread once I get the diagnostic results. These insights about your repair experience will help me discuss the problem more knowledgeably with the technician.
