RS7 Massage Function Failure: Diagnostic Help Needed

Anyone dealt with massage seat failures in an RS7? My 2014 model with 20033km has completely stopped responding to the massage function. The seat motor seems fine for normal adjustments, but the massage feature refuses to work and throws an error code. Looking for advice before heading to a mechanic after a previous bad experience. Has anyone encountered similar massage chair issues and found a reliable fix? Mainly concerned about whether this is typically a seat switch problem or something more serious.

The massage setting issue you describe matches what I encountered with my 2017 S6. The massage seat malfunction initially appeared as an error message while other seat functions remained operational. After inspection, the problem traced to worn wiring harness connectors feeding the massage components. The seat motor functioned correctly for basic adjustments, but the specific massage controls were receiving inconsistent power due to cable connection issues. The fix required partial disassembly of the luxury car seat to access the wiring. Several connectors needed replacement, and one massage actuator had become disconnected. The car upholstery remained undamaged during the repair process. This is generally not a severe mechanical issue, but requires specific diagnostic equipment to properly identify the fault points. The most common failure points are: 1. Loose connector pins 2. Damaged wire insulation 3. Failed massage control module 4. Disconnected actuators Getting this addressed promptly prevents potential damage to other seat components. While not a critical safety concern, delaying repairs can lead to more extensive issues with the entire seat electrical system.

Having the exact same problem right now with my 2015 RS7. Just saw your post and the reply about wiring harness issues. Almost relieved to hear this since I was worried about a complete seat switch failure which would cost much more. The symptoms match perfectly, normal seat adjustments work but massage function is completely dead. Could you share what the repair cost was in your case? Really hoping to avoid any major car upholstery work if possible. Also curious if youve had any other massage chair problems since getting it fixed? My previous repair experiences with luxury car components have been hit or miss.

Good news, got the massage seat issue fully resolved after taking it to a mechanic. The fault was exactly as suspected, a faulty cable connection to the massage control unit. Total repair cost came to 95 Euro, which included testing and reconnecting the loose components. No car upholstery work was needed since they accessed the wiring through existing service panels. The luxury car seat works perfectly now, all massage functions responding normally with no error codes. It has been running flawlessly for about 6 months since the fix. The seat switch and adjustment controls never had issues before or after, confirming it was isolated to the massage system wiring. Much better outcome than expected, especially considering some of the complex electrical problems these massage chairs can develop. The key was catching it early before the loose connection could damage other components. Regular seat functions staying operational was a good indicator that the core systems were intact. Most importantly, no repeat issues since the repair, everything functions like new. For the reasonable cost and straightforward fix, definitely worth getting checked out rather than risking bigger problems down the line.

As the original poster, I wanted to update on getting this fixed. Finally took it to a specialist mechanic who diagnosed an electrical issue with the massage control module wiring. Exactly like others mentioned, it was just loose connectors and one pinched wire causing the problem. The automotive seats only needed minor disassembly to access the wiring harness. Total repair came to 120 Euro including diagnostic time. Much better than the 500 Euro+ quote I got previously from another shop for a full massage system replacement. Entire repair took about 2 hours. The massage setting works perfectly now, all functions restored with no error codes. Really glad I asked here first and avoided unnecessary parts replacement. The car upholstery remained completely intact since they accessed everything through the service panels. After 3 weeks of regular use, no issues at all with the luxury car seat functions. Both the massage and normal adjustments are working smoothly. Definitely recommend getting these electrical issues checked early before they can cause bigger problems.
