Thanks for sharing your experience. Similar story here with my 2017 RS7. The dashboard lights and headlight switch started acting up about 3 months after I had it fixed. My problem turned out to be more complex than initially thought. Once they replaced the dimmer switch, they discovered moisture damage in the main wiring harness. A real headache. Just curious, what was your final repair cost? Mine ended up being around 850 Euro for parts and labor. Also, have you noticed any other electrical quirks since the repair?

Had my car back from the mechanic last week. The initial diagnosis was spot on, the faulty light switch was causing the unusual activation issues. After a thorough inspection of the fuse box and surrounding components, they found the problem was a loose cable connection at the headlight switch assembly. The repair was much simpler than expected. No need to replace the entire dimmer switch or dig into the main wiring harness. The technician just needed to repair the connection and secure it properly. Total cost came to 95 Euro, which included testing all lighting circuits to ensure everything worked correctly. Since the repair, the car lighting system has been working flawlessly. No more unusual tail light activation or error codes. The dimmer switch functions as it should, and all connections at the fuse box are secure. Much better outcome than your situation with the wiring harness issues. Your repair cost of 850 Euro makes sense given the extensive work needed. When moisture gets into the main harness, it usually requires a complete section replacement. At least my issue was caught before it could develop into something more serious.

Thanks for the input. Wanted to share how my repair journey ended. After getting quotes from several shops, I found a certified Audi specialist who actually knew what they were doing. The tail lights issue was more complex than a simple dimmer switch replacement. The technician found corrosion in the main electrical connections and damage to the light switch assembly. The moisture had spread further than initially suspected. The repair involved: Complete light switch module replacement, Rewiring part of the electrical system, New weatherproof seals installation, Full system diagnostic check Total cost hit 1200 Euro, which was steep but worth it to fix the electrical problems properly. No more unusual tail light activation or error codes since the repair. The car lighting system now works perfectly. Big lesson learned, electrical issues need proper diagnosis from the start. Trying to save money with quick fixes usually leads to bigger problems later.

Had the same electrical problem with my Audi S7 2015. The tail lights would activate out of nowhere and the automotive switch showed intermittent faults. The root cause turned out to be corroded wiring connectors at the dimmer switch assembly. The repair involved replacing the entire light switch module since water had seeped in through a deteriorated seal. The electrical problem affected multiple circuits, causing ghost signals to the tail lights and other lighting components. This was a serious issue that could have led to battery drain or complete lighting system failure. The diagnostic process required specialized equipment to trace the intermittent signals. Most independent shops struggle with these complex electrical issues on modern Audis. For reference, the repair included: Removing dashboard trim, Testing circuit continuity, Replacing main light switch assembly, Reprogramming new module, Clearing fault codes Would recommend having this checked at a shop with Audi diagnostic equipment since faulty switches can cause multiple electrical system problems. The repair is intensive but necessary to prevent bigger issues.
