RSQ3 Oil Warning Signals Point to Failing Sensor

Thanks for sharing your experience. That definitely sounds similar to what I had. Good to know its likely just a faulty sensor. Curious how much you ended up paying for the oil signal sensor repair? My local garage quoted me 400 Euro for parts and labor which seems high. Also wondering if youve had any related issues pop up since the fix? The engine is still running fine but want to make sure Im not missing any warning signs of a bigger problem with the oil pressure system.

Following up on my earlier post, I actually got the repair done last week and can confirm it was indeed just the oil detection system acting up. The mechanic found a damaged connection at the oil level sensor plug, which was causing those erratic readings and warnings. The final bill came to 95 Euro total, which included fixing the faulty sensor connection. Much better than the 400 Euro quote you received. Your quote seems quite steep, especially since these sensor issues often just need connection repairs rather than full replacements. Its been running perfectly since the fix, no more warning lights or oil monitoring errors. The engine oil pressure is stable and all readings are normal. Based on the successful repair, I can say with certainty those symptoms pointed to a sensor issue rather than actual oil pressure problems. If your engine continues running smoothly like mine did, its likely the same scenario, just a faulty sensor signal rather than a mechanical issue. Still, getting it checked soon makes sense to rule out any underlying problems with the oil system.

Just got back from the mechanic and wanted to update everyone. After checking the engine oil pressure directly, they confirmed it was exactly what you all suggested, just a faulty oil signal sensor connection. The repair ended up being much simpler than expected. The mechanic found corrosion in the sensor wiring harness connection, similar to what others mentioned. They cleaned the connection and replaced a damaged section of the wiring for 120 Euro total, way less than that initial 400 Euro quote I got elsewhere. Been driving for a few days now with no warning lights or error messages. The automotive oil pressure readings are steady and normal. Really glad I got a second opinion and didnt rush into the more expensive repair option. The engine runs just as smooth as before, and the oil detection system is working perfectly now. Thanks for helping me avoid an unnecessarily expensive repair. This kind of sensor issue seems pretty common with these engines.

The oil pressure warning symptoms match what I experienced with my RS3 (2016) last winter. The oil gauge readings were erratic and the system showed similar error messages about oil pressure, despite the engine running smoothly. In my case, the root cause was indeed a faulty sensor and its wiring connection rather than an actual oil pressure problem. The automotive oil pressure sensor had a damaged cable harness where it connected to the main plug. The connector had corroded over time, causing intermittent signal disruptions. The repair involved replacing the oil pressure sensor and the associated wiring harness. While not a major mechanical issue, it required careful diagnostic work to confirm the sensor issue versus a genuine oil pressure problem. Labor time was around 2 hours since accessing the sensor location needed some disassembly. Most importantly, continuing to drive with undiagnosed oil pressure warnings can be risky, even if its just a sensor issue. Its worth getting it checked promptly to rule out any actual engine oil pressure problems, which would be far more serious. Based on your mileage and the symptoms described, a faulty sensor or connection issue seems likely, especially since the engine runs normally otherwise.
