S Klasse rain sensor malfunction
Summary of the thread
The 2010 Mercedes S Klasse experienced a malfunction with the rain-light sensor, affecting the auto wiping mode, automatic headlight control, speedometer dimming, and causing the lights to remain on. A potential cause identified was bubbles forming under the gel pad of the windshield. The suggested solution was to inspect the sensor for damage or debris and consider professional repair. Ultimately, replacing the rain sensor resolved the issue.

Thanks for the reply! I did check for debris, and the windshield seems clean. But you mentioned similar problems... Was it definitely the rain sensor in your case? What was the fix?

Yep, pretty sure it was the rain sensor. Honestly, I didn't mess with it too much. I just took it to a workshop. They confirmed it was the sensor and replaced it. Not worth the headache in my opinion! So I would suggest visiting the workshop.

Thanks, I appreciate the info. I took it to a local shop, and you were right. It was the rain sensor, bubbles under the gel pad. They replaced it. Cost me 62€. Everything's working normally again!

Sounds like a pain! I have an S Klasse too, and I had similar problems with my rain sensor. No auto headlights, wipers going crazy or not at all... Drove me nuts. Did you check the sensor itself for any visible damage or debris? Is the windshield clean around the sensor area?
