S10 oil pressure warning
Summary of the thread
A 2019 Chevrolet S10 with a diesel engine is experiencing an oil pressure warning light and mechanical noises, despite having a normal oil level. The issue may be due to a defect in the oil pump or engine bearings, as indicated by a low oil pressure gauge reading. Immediate professional inspection is advised to prevent further engine damage, with the oil pump being a likely cause.

Thanks for the quick reply! Yeah, the oil pressure gauge is reading really low when the light comes on. No signs of oil leakage that I can see. When you had the problem, what did it end up being? Was it a costly repair?

Mine turned out to be a defect in the oil pump itself. Unfortunately, it's not a cheap fix. I would suggest you get it checked by a professional as soon as possible, before it causes even more damage. Ignoring low oil pressure can destroy your engine pretty quickly.

Appreciate the advice! I'll get it straight into the workshop. Seems like the oil pump is the likely culprit, and the estimated repair cost is around 755€. Hopefully, that will solve the problem. Thanks again for your help!

Whoa, that sounds rough. I had a similar problem with my S10. Is the oil pressure gauge reading super low, like almost zero? Could be a sign of something serious going on with the oil pump or even the engine bearings. Any sign of oil leakage?
