S2000 Incorrect Vehicle Coding Error

My 2001 Honda S2000 (gasoline engine, 138178 km) threw a code today. I'm getting an error message in the infotainment and on the speedometer. Scan tool says incorrect vehicle coding. Anyone seen this before?

Summary of the thread

A 2001 Honda S2000 displayed an "incorrect vehicle coding" error on both the infotainment system and speedometer. This issue was identified as a glitch in the control module's coding. The recommended solution was to have the vehicle recoded at a workshop with proper diagnostic tools, which successfully resolved the problem.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

I had a similar issue with my S2000 a while back. The malfunction indicator was driving me nuts, and it turned out to be a glitch in the control module. Did you try resetting the codes to see if it clears?

Yeah, I tried clearing the codes, but they came right back. Was your issue definitely coding-related, or something else?

Positive it was the coding itself. After they reset the codes and properly configured the module, the problem disappeared. I'd recommend a workshop with proper diagnostic tools to pinpoint the issue.

Thanks for the info! Took it to a shop, they confirmed the coding issue. Recoding fixed it, total cost 360€
