S60 Audio System Failure

My 2014 S60 with a gasoline engine has suddenly gone completely silent. The audio system is dead – no sound from the radio, USB audio, nothing. I've checked the fuses and they seem fine. I was blasting music yesterday and now...silence. Anyone experienced this before?

I understand you are experiencing issues with your S60's audio system. Does the head unit itself appear to be functioning? Are you able to navigate the menus and change settings, or is the entire system non-responsive? Have you tried adjusting the volume control to ensure it is not inadvertently muted or set to a very low level? Were there any unusual noises or distortions prior to the complete loss of audio?

Yes, the head unit is working fine. I can navigate all the menus, change settings, everything looks normal. Volume control is definitely not muted. As for weird noises, I honestly can't recall anything specific. Maybe a slight crackle a few days ago? It was so faint I didn't think much of it. Could a defective bass speaker really kill the entire system's output?

A defective bass speaker could lead to a complete audio failure, though it is somewhat atypical. Given the age and mileage (39772 km) of your vehicle, combined with the faint crackling you mentioned, there is a possibility of a component failure within the audio amplifier or a short circuit affecting the system's output. I would cautiously advise seeking a professional assessment. Based on similar Volvo S60 repairs, you should expect an eventual repair cost of around 280€.

Appreciate the advice, I'll book it in for a checkup at the workshop. Considering the possible cost, it's better to be safe than sorry. Turns out, the bass speaker was the culprit! Replaced it and the system is back to life. Thanks again!
