S60 Brake Pedal Feedback

I've got a strange brake pedal feedback in my 2001 Volvo S60 diesel, mileage 30756 km. Brake fluid level is fine, and I don't see any wear on the discs. Any ideas what could cause this? Could it be electrical?

Hey there, I had something similar happen with my old Saab 9-3! The weird pedal feel... ugh, I remember it well. It turned out to be undervoltage screwing with the ABS module. The module wasn't getting enough juice, so it started acting funky and messing with the brake pressure. Any chance you've noticed any other electrical gremlins lately? Dimming lights, radio cutting out, anything like that?

Thanks for the response. Undervoltage is interesting. I haven't seen any obvious electrical issues like flickering lights. But could undervoltage only affect the brake system without other symptoms?

Totally possible! With my Saab, it was subtle at first. The brake pedal thing was the only real clue for a while. Eventually, it got worse and other stuff started acting up, but the brakes were the first sign. Honestly, I'd get your Volvo checked out by a good mechanic. They can hook it up to a diagnostic tool and see if there are any voltage issues or error codes related to the ABS. Don't risk it with brakes!

Thanks for the guidance. I took it to a shop, and they confirmed undervoltage was the problem, just like you suspected. The repairs, including fixing the electrical issue and replacing some brake parts, cost about 240€. Thanks for your help!
