Thank you for your response. Could you elaborate on the specific nature of the airflow sensor issue you experienced? Was it a faulty sensor, a wiring problem, or something else entirely?

In my case, the mechanic identified it as a faulty sensor, causing incorrect readings. I had it replaced and the issue was resolved. I would suggest taking it to a workshop for a proper diagnosis to avoid unnecessary repairs.

I appreciate your assistance. I took your advice and went to the workshop. It turns out the cable for the charge air temperature sensor was indeed defective, as I initially suspected. The repair, including parts and labor, amounted to 95€. Everything is now running smoothly again. Thanks again for your valuable input.

I have a Volvo S80 as well and I had very similar symptoms a while back. Check engine light, reduced power and that annoying whistling sound. It ended up being related to the airflow sensor. I am not sure if it's the same issue, but might be worth checking.
