S80 Oil Level Sensor Faulty

Hi, I've got a 2007 Volvo S80 diesel with about 77k km on the clock. I'm getting an 'oil level sensor faulty' error on the dash, along with the oil pressure warning light sometimes. The error's also showing up in the car's error memory. Any ideas? I'm thinking it's probably just a bad connection somewhere.

Greetings. I regret to hear about the difficulties you are experiencing with your Volvo S80. It appears you are encountering issues related to the oil level sensor. I had a similar event occur not too long ago, also with an S80. The intermittent illumination of the oil pressure warning lamp is certainly cause for concern. Have you checked the condition of the wiring harness and the connector leading to the oil level sensor? A visual inspection for corrosion or damage may reveal the source of the malfunction.

Thanks for the reply! Where exactly is the oil level sensor located? Just so I can check the wiring. Also, what sort of problems did you have exactly?

You are most welcome. Regarding the location of the oil level sensor, on my vehicle, it was situated on the lower portion of the oil pan. Concerning the nature of the issue I faced, the symptoms were congruent with what you have described; I would recommend taking your car to a trusted shop in order for them to perform a thorough diagnostic review. Based on the information you have provided, along with my experience, a faulty cable/plug connection may be the source of the error.

Cheers, that's really helpful. I'll get it checked out. Turns out it was indeed a dodgy connector as you suggested. Cost about 95€ to get sorted at a garage.
