S80 Radar Sensor Failure

I'm having trouble with my 2008 Volvo S80 diesel. The radar sensor seems to have failed. I get an error message in the speedometer, and the diagnostic tool shows a radar-related error. It's causing other systems to throw errors, and there's a warning light. It's got 235786 km on the clock, so I thought it might be road grime. I cleaned the sensor, but it didn't help. Has anyone else experienced this?

I had something similar happen in my S80. Was the error message constant or intermittent? Did you check the wiring harness to the sensor itself? Sometimes a loose connection can cause issues.

Good shout! I'll check the wiring harness in the morning. Was it the exact same symptoms or just a general driving assistance error? Did cleaning the sensor fix it, or were more drastic measures needed? I'm wondering if I need a new sensor.

The symptoms were pretty much spot on - error message, warning light. Cleaning didn't fix it. I ended up taking it to a workshop, and they sorted it out. I would recommend a professional to avoid creating other issues.

Thanks for the advice! I took it to my local garage. The sensor was just dirty, despite my cleaning efforts. They cleaned it properly, reset the system, and the warning lights are gone! Cost me 45€, so I'm pleased.
