Safrane Battery Draining
Summary of the thread
The 1999 Renault Safrane is experiencing battery drainage, flickering lights, and engine starting issues, accompanied by a low voltage error code. A potential cause identified is a defective battery sensor, which is prone to failure and can lead to such symptoms. Replacing the faulty sensor resolved the issues, clearing error codes and restoring normal function.

Thanks for the quick reply! No visible corrosion. But how did you figure out it was the sensor? Were your symptoms exactly the same? How much did the repair cost you?

My symptoms were almost identical. Turns out these sensors are prone to failure. I'd suggest getting it checked out by a workshop to confirm, but it's likely the culprit. If it is, replacing the sensor should solve the problem. You should expect a similar cost.

You were spot on! Took it to the shop, and the battery sensor was indeed the problem. New sensor, error codes cleared, and everything is working fine now. Total cost was 315€.

I had similar battery charging issues with my Renault Megane. Weak battery, error messages... Sounds familiar. Have you checked the battery sensor specifically? Is it showing any signs of damage or corrosion?
