Safrane Bluetooth Connection Issue
Summary of the thread
A 1999 Renault Safrane owner experienced issues with their smartphone not connecting to the car's interface, with diagnostic tools indicating an error in the memory. The problem was suspected to be related to incorrect pairing or a deeper issue in the communication system. After suggestions to consider a faulty Bluetooth module or wiring, a workshop confirmed the Bluetooth module was indeed faulty, and it was repaired for 45€.

I tried another smartphone, same problem. Since there's an error stored, could it be a deeper issue in the transmission or a module failure affecting the communication bus? The symptoms are specific, but the cause is elusive. I'm starting to think it's software, not hardware.

Software glitches happen, but multiple devices failing suggests the car's Bluetooth module is the problem. Try a hard reset, but for a '99 Safrane, a workshop is better. They can diagnose it properly. I'd bet on a faulty Bluetooth module or wiring.

Thanks for the advice! I went to a workshop, and they confirmed the Bluetooth module was faulty. The repair cost 45€, which seems fair. Your initial assessment was spot on! I am grateful for your help.

Sounds like a comms issue. Is it only the phone that won't connect? Have you tried other devices? Is Bluetooth enabled?
