Safrane Keyless Access Fault
Summary of the thread
The keyless access on a 1999 Renault Safrane stopped working, with a diagnostic scan indicating an error. The issue is suspected to be due to a defective cable or plug. A similar problem was resolved by checking the door handle sensor, which is often the cause. It is recommended to seek professional help for dismantling the door and checking the electrics, as it could involve a broken wire inside.

Thanks! It's both front doors. Can you give me more detail on the sensor location in the door handle, and what to look for in terms of corrosion or damage?

Both doors points even more to the handle. It's buried in there. Unless you're really confident with dismantling the door and electrics, get a workshop to look. Could be a broken wire deep inside.

Thanks for the advice. I'll get professional help. Repair cost was 95€, which is fine.

Had a similar issue with my Safrane. Check the door handle sensor; that's usually it. Is it both doors, or just one?
