Safrane rear ventilation flap fault
Summary of the thread
A 2000 Renault Safrane is experiencing issues with the rear ventilation flap, causing the climate control system to malfunction and the air conditioning to stop cooling. The problem is suspected to be due to a defective cable or plug connection. It is suggested to check the wiring harness and plug for loose connections or corrosion, as these can lead to system faults. The issue was resolved by addressing a corroded connector, restoring the system's functionality.

Good point! The error code is quite vague; doesn't specify flap or circuit... Could a bad connection really stop the AC from cooling altogether though?

Indeed. If the system detects a fault within the climate control, especially a component like a ventilation flap, it can disable the air conditioning to prevent further damage or erratic behavior. I'd suggest getting to a workshop and ask them to do a guided fault finding process.

Thanks for the tip! It ended up being a corroded connector as suggested - 95€ later and all good.

Sounds plausible. Have you checked the wiring harness and plug leading to the flap motor? Sometimes a loose connection or corroded pin can cause all sorts of weird issues with the automatic climate system. Is the error code specific about the flap or the circuit?
