SantaFe parking assist failure

Hey, I'm having a real headache with my 2010 Hyundai SantaFe with a gasoline engine. My parking assist has completely stopped working! The display is just dead, and I get an error message when I hook it up to a diagnostic tool. The error log points towards a defective cable or plug somewhere in the system. Has anyone else run into this? I'm not super handy with cars, but I'm trying to figure out if it's something I can tackle myself. Is there a common place these cables get damaged, or am I looking at a control module issue?

Summary of the thread

A 2010 Hyundai SantaFe owner is experiencing a complete failure of the parking assist system, with a dead display and error messages indicating a possible defective cable or plug. A similar issue was resolved by checking the wiring and connectors to the sensors, particularly those exposed to the elements, as corrosion and damage are common causes. The suggested solution is to inspect these connections or seek professional diagnosis to avoid unnecessary part replacements. Ultimately, the problem was resolved by fixing a corroded plug connection at a workshop.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

I also drive a SantaFe and had a similar problem with my parking sensors. It turned out to be a faulty connection to one of the sensors. Check the wiring and connectors to each of the radar sensors or ultrasonic sensors, especially those exposed to the elements. Corrosion and damage can occur there.

Thanks for the tip! When you say "similar problem," do you mean your whole system was down, or just one sensor not working? And do you remember which sensor gave you trouble? I'm really hoping it's not the control module itself, as I've heard those are expensive.

My entire system was down, just as you describe. Unfortunately, I do not remember exactly which sensor connector was the issue. I took it to a workshop to have it diagnosed to be sure. They identified a defective connection. I suggest you do the same to ensure you don't replace the wrong parts.

OK, thanks. I appreciate the advice. I was hoping to avoid a shop visit, but it sounds like that's the best bet. I got it fixed at the workshop. It was indeed a corroded plug connection, and the repair cost me 95€. Thanks again!
