Saxo Diesel Jerking Acceleration
Summary of the thread
A 2001 Citroen Saxo diesel is experiencing jerking during acceleration, power loss, stalling at idle, rough running, and an exhaust smell, with the check engine light on. The problem is suspected to be related to a vacuum leak or the intake manifold. A similar case suggested checking for a manifold leak, especially if the issue worsens when the engine is cold. The intake manifold was confirmed to be leaking due to scorching, and repairing it resolved the issue.

Manifold pressure? I haven't checked that specifically, but I did a quick visual inspection and didn't see anything obvious. A gasket leak makes sense, given the exhaust smell. And yes, it's definitely worse when the engine is cold. How did you figure out it was the manifold?

If it's worse when cold, I'd bet on a manifold leak. I actually had scorching on mine – common issue, apparently. I spent ages chasing phantom misfires. Honestly, save yourself the hassle and get it to a workshop.

Took it to the workshop and you were right – intake manifold was leaking due to scorching. Repair cost 1180€, but at least she's running smoothly again.

Saxo diesel, eh? Sounds familiar! I had similar issues: jerking, power loss, the whole shebang. Did you check the manifold pressure? Could be a gasket leak. Is it worse when the engine is cold?
