Saxo engine smoke and power loss
Summary of the thread
A 2003 Citroen Saxo owner is experiencing engine issues, including a check engine light, reduced power, and visible smoke during acceleration. The suspected cause is a defective crankcase ventilation valve (PCV valve). Another individual with similar past issues suggests checking the PCV valve, as it can become clogged and cause these symptoms. The recommended solution is to have the vehicle inspected and repaired at a workshop, as emissions problems can be complex.
Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Thanks for the quick response. I haven't checked the PCV valve directly yet. I was planning to do that this weekend. Was your issue definitively the PCV valve, and if so, did you notice any rough idling before the smoke started?

Yep, turned out to be the PCV valve. Caused all sorts of grief. Honestly, though, just get it checked at a workshop. It's a pain to get to on the Saxo, and emissions problems can be tricky.

Thanks for confirming. I appreciate the advice. I'll take it to the workshop. It seems the defective crankcase ventilation was the problem, and the repair cost me 360€.

Hey, I had a similar problem with my Saxo a while back. Same symptoms, especially the smoke. Did you check the PCV valve itself? Sometimes it just gets gunked up.
