Saxo engine stalls at idle fuel pressure issue
Summary of the thread
A 2002 Citroen Saxo experienced engine stalling at idle and reduced power, with the check engine light on. The suspected cause was a defective fuel pressure regulator, possibly triggered by an error after changing the fuel filter. After confirming consistent but slightly low fuel rail pressure, the regulator was replaced, resolving the issue and restoring normal engine function.

Fuel rail pressure seems consistent, though possibly a bit low. I will inspect the fuel pump, but what was your experience with the fuel regulator itself? Did you observe any specific behavior?

In my case, the regulator was indeed faulty. The pressure was erratic. Given your symptoms and the recent fuel filter change, it’s likely the culprit. You can try and solve it yourself, but I ended up having the regulator replaced at a workshop. Best of luck!

Thanks for the insight. Replacing the fuel pressure regulator resolved the issue. The cost was 45€. Fuel system is now nominal.

I had similar symptoms with my Saxo: rough idle, loss of power. Have you checked the fuel rail pressure? Could also be related to the fuel pump itself, but the regulator is a prime suspect.
