Saxo Exhaust Leak Sensor Failure

Hi, I have a 2001 Citroen Saxo diesel with 127826 km. The check engine light is on, and I've noticed reduced engine power plus higher fuel consumption. I suspect a faulty exhaust temperature sensor. Could a leak in the exhaust system cause this?

I had similar symptoms with my Saxo, though I never checked the mileage. The exhaust sensor could definitely be the culprit if you have a leak. Have you checked for any visible cracks or holes in the exhaust?

I haven't spotted anything obvious visually. Where exactly should I be looking for the leak? Any specific spots prone to failure?

Honestly, it's hard to say without a proper inspection. It could be anywhere along the system. If you can't find it yourself, I'd suggest taking it to a workshop. They'll have the tools to properly check the exhaust system.

Thanks for the advice. Took it to a shop, and you were right; a leak in the exhaust system caused the sensor to fail. Sensor replacement and exhaust repair cost me 265€. Appreciate the help!
