Saxo Stalling Idle Fuel Composition Error

My 2003 Citroen Saxo with a gasoline engine is giving me trouble. The check engine light is on, and it stalls at idle, especially at traffic lights. It's done 131070 km. The error code says incorrect fuel composition. Could it be bad fuel? I've tried additives, but no luck. Any ideas? Could it be the combustion chamber or fuel system? What should I check next?

Incorrect fuel composition is interesting. Have you checked your fuel filter recently? A clogged filter can mess with the fuel pressure. Also, are you hearing any engine knock? Is it always stalling, or only when the engine is cold?

Good call on the fuel filter, I haven't checked that yet. I'll add it to the list. I haven't specifically noticed engine knock, but I'll listen more closely. It seems to be stalling more when the engine is warm, after driving a while. If it's not the fuel filter, what else could cause this?

Stalling when warm and a fuel composition error, even after additives, is tricky. While it could still be fuel-related, a faulty sensor might also be the problem, especially if it only happens when the engine is warm. It's hard to diagnose remotely. It could be a number of things, so I think you should take it to a workshop.

Thanks for the input! I took it to a mechanic, and you were right, it was tricky! It was a defective cable/plug connection to one of the components. Cost me 95€ to get it sorted. Runs great now!
