SC Overheating Slow Warm Up

No warning lights at all, which is weird. Just the temp gauge going higher than usual and the slow warm-up. If it is the thermostat, is it something I could tackle myself, or am I better off taking it to a mechanic?

Without any warning lights, it really does sound like a thermostat issue. I wouldn't recommend doing it yourself unless you're comfortable working on cars. You need to drain the coolant, replace the thermostat, and bleed the system properly. If you mess it up, you could cause more damage. I'd suggest taking it to a shop.

Thanks for the advice! I appreciate you sharing your experience with the BMW. I'll take it to a mechanic and have them check the thermostat. Hopefully, that's all it is. I'll post what happens once I get it sorted. It was the map thermostat, costing me 350€. Thanks again!

Sounds familiar. I had a similar issue with my old BMW 3 Series a while back. Overheating and slow warm-up times often point to a thermostat problem. Could also be a coolant leak somewhere, but thermostat is more likely. Any warning lights on the dash?
