Scenic clutch switch issues

I'm at my wit's end with my 2006 Renault Scenic diesel. It's got 129934 km on the clock, and now the clutch pedal switch is acting up. I'm getting an error code, the gear selection display on the speedometer is dead, cruise control is a no-go, and sometimes it won't even start! I've checked the obvious stuff, but could it really just be a dodgy cable or plug? This car is driving me nuts!

Sounds frustrating! Have you checked the safety switch? I had a similar problem years ago, and it turned out to be that. Also, does it stall at all while you're driving? That's another symptom of a faulty clutch switch.

Safety switch...hmm, where exactly is that located? And no, thankfully it doesn't stall while driving, just the starting issue and the cruise control. Any chance this is something a decent mechanic could sort easily?

Yeah, sounds like the clutch switch alright. Given the symptoms, and that you have the error code, I would bet on it. While you could try fiddling with it yourself, I'd recommend taking it to a workshop. For 95€ it is not worth the risk for damaging something else..

I think I'll bite the bullet and get it checked out. Better safe than sorry, especially with the starting issue. Hopefully, it's just the cable or the switch itself. The workshop confirmed it - faulty clutch switch was the culprit! 95€ and it's purring like a kitten again.
